Set both departure and arrival locations for flights, trains, etc.
It would be great if, for transportation, we could set two locations: one for departure and one for arrival.

Poll/vote feature
Please make a poll/vote feature! This type of tool begs for it, and I was under the assumption it was included in the way it was described.
For example, it would work like this. Create a poll that says "Would dates X thru Y work for you?" Then, everyone votes and a percentage is calculated (i.e. "75% of invitees have replied 'yes' ")
5 votes(Note that Planapple already has a way that your tripmates can vote thumbs up/down on individual items in your trip notebook. This is a request for something a little different: a “survey question” for your tripmates, with multiple choice responses.)

Show basic description for Notebook items without going to Details
Show at least part of a description without having to view details. My tripmate has never been in the area we're going to. I added various attractions that I'm familiar with, but my tripmate isn't. If you're just glancing through at the names, it's hard to tell what some of them are. It'd be nice to have at least part of the description showing on the list so there's an idea of what the attraction is. Right now the only thing that shows is who created it, when, possibly a rating, and comments.

Visual Indication when new items/discussions are added
Have an easy, visual way to show that something has been added/commented on when viewing the trip page. For instance, if I start a Discussion with my tripmate, perhaps show Discussion in bold or with a (1) after it to indicate that there's something new there.
My tripmate doesn't always check his email, so he's not likely to see the notifications. If there was an easy way to see that there are new items (and where they are), it would be really helpful.
14 votesWe’re thinking about adding little orange dots by items that have been updated, and also showing the updated count in the list on the left. (Kind of like iPhone/Android mail apps show the unread count.)

Have an RSS feed for my trip
It would be nice to have the option to choose an email notification and/or an RSS feed for trip updates/additions.

Add the travel distance in the itinerary
Adding the estimated distance between locations by travel time or km could help on designing itinerary. Including the travel cost and means could also help.
8 votesWe’re thinking about adding distance between your main destinations (cities). (There’s also another idea in the forums to show distance of items in each city from your hotel or some other main point.)

Import calendar entries from Kayak calendar
Kayak offers a similar service to Tripit for sending them booking confirmation emails and having them added to a calendar which is available as a calendar feed.
Sometimes Kayak can recognize email formats that Tripit cant (and vice versa) so it would be nice if Planapple would accept any calendar feed as an import source for itinerary entries

Add more than one link (bookmark) to an item
I would like to ad more links (bookmarks) to an item. Sometimes you have the homepage of a restaurant for example and want to keep a forum post about that restaurant for reference.
9 votesYou can actually do this now, but only through the Planapple Save Button. There’s not yet any way to add additional bookmarks from within Planapple itself. (We’ll treat votes for this suggestion as a vote for that feature.)
When you’re using the Save Button, there are two tabs at the top: “New Item” and “Update”. Use the “Update” tab to add the page you’re saving to an existing item in your trip.

Re-arrange categories within a notebook
I like being able to create custom categories for my trips; however, utility of this feature is limited by the fact that there is no way to move or sort the categories other than the order in which they were created. Drag and drop would be the most convenient method of re-ordering, but a fallback option would be to permit (though not require) categories to be sorted in alphabetical order -- it's easy enough to play with the names so they show up in the order I want.

Navigation to next detail item in the detail form. Now I must go back to the list and select the next item to see the detail form.

Notify on website when someone has replied (like instant messaging)
I think your "discussion with your tripmates" idea is nice but there's the hassle of not being able to tell if your tripmates have replied to your posts unless you check your email regularly. I think an instant messaging system might be nice or if we could get notifications on the website for when somebody has replied. Thank you.

My Trip home page
A splashier trip home page would be nice. Let us upload a cover photo of our destination, show thumbnail photos/avatars of group members, display a countdown to the departure date, etc. Right now, it's just one big news feed, which isn't very engaging.

German Version
Well, I'm just missing the german/european version of this tool.
Germans are the world champions of travel. Each employee has 28-34 days of vacation per year and believe me they utilize it. So might be an idea to expand to Germany?
